Will Ronaldo be allowed?

Despite the country’s laws prohibiting unmarried couples from cohabitating, Saudi Arabia will permit Cristiano Ronaldo to live with partner Georgina Rodriguez.

Ronaldo, Christian accepting fresh challenges

Despite Saudi Arabian law prohibiting non-married couples from cohabitating, Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez are reportedly breaking the law by doing so.

After leaving Manchester United, the 37-year-old Portuguese star signed with Al-Nassr last month and is expected to make £175 million annually.

On Tuesday, January 3, he made his public debut in front of 25,000 spectators at Mrsool Park in Riyadh, over a backdrop of pyrotechnics, flares, and strobe lighting.

At his debut, Ronaldo’s family was also present, and the Spanish publication SPORT reported that by residing together, Ronaldo and Rodriguez will be in violation of Saudi law.

Rodriguez and Ronaldo would technically be in violation of Saudi law because they are not yet legally wed.

However, the Spanish news agency EFE claims that due to Ronaldo’s prominence as one of the most marketable athletes in the world, the Portuguese star is unlikely to be penalised. This is stated further in SPORT’s report.

The legal experts predicted that the necessary authorities would not become involved in Ronaldo’s issue, citing two different Saudi lawyers.

“Although the rules still forbid cohabitation without a marriage contract, the authorities have started to turn a blind eye and do not prosecute anyone,” one person claimed. Of course, when there is a problem or a crime, these laws are used.
