Unknown assailants allegedly killed the chief and two others.

Nana Meebo, Chief of Borae Ahenfie, and two others were allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen at Borae Ahenfie, a farming community in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region.

14 persons have been arrested in connection with the shooting and are assisting police with their investigations.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Nkrumah Kwasi Ogyile, who is also the Chairman of the District Security Committee (DISEC), confirmed the occurrence to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), saying the perpetrators ambushed and shot the chief and the two to death.

He claimed that the late chief had a disagreement with various community factions over a plot of property, which he won before the Krachi West District Court.

Mr Ogyile stated that the late chief thereafter delivered the court judgment to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Charles Dormaban, the Oti Regional Police Commander, who advised the groups to follow the court decision.

The DISEC Chairman stated that the late chief and two of his subjects were working on the abovementioned land when they were reportedly attacked by the intruders.

He stated that the bodies of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue of the Krachi West District hospital for preservation.

He claimed that security had been increased and that calm had been restored.
