Ghana captain Andre Ayew maintains his team is not focused on avenging a loss to Uruguay in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars were drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay, who were eliminated from the 2010 World Cup in a penalty shoot-out.
The Ghanaians’ loss against Uruguay was heartbreaking, but Ayew is just looking ahead to their final group game against the South Americans.
Ghanaian star: Football is not about vengeance. We must concentrate on the present moment; what happened in the past is meaningless today.
“We have to do our best to make the continent proud, since the World Cup is for the entire continent, not just Ghana.” And that is all we aim to concentrate on.
“Portugal is one of the favorites, and their quality sticks out.” Not to mention having Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best players in the world. It promises to be a historic occasion, and we must live up to expectations.
“On the field, we will fight and offer our best.” Korea Republic also has a very powerful and reliable team that is well acquainted with one another. It’s a difficult group. With the exception of Portugal, I believe the teams are roughly on par.”
