Chiana students insulted Ghana President

Eight students from the Chiana Senior High School in the Upper East Region have been expelled by the Ghana Education Service (GES) for allegedly insulting President Akufo-Addo.

The pupils had been suspended before being expelled.

The GES claims that their investigation into the incident established that the students insulted the President with foul language.

The behaviors of the students have thus been characterized as “extremely undesired, and antithetical to the acceptable standards of the conduct normally required of any student in Ghana’s educational system,” according to the statement.

President Akufo-Addo had previously received an apology from the GES for the remarks made by students.

“We want to let everyone know that the children in the video are second-year Chiana Senior High School students in the Kassena Nankana West District.

Parts of the statement released on November 14, 2022 read, “Management of GES wishes to convey our most heartfelt apologies to the President and the broader public on behalf of the students and school.”
